I heard this song in a commercial for Legends of the Guardians and instantly liked it. This song made the movie sound way more intense than it is probably going to be (quote from Dream). After seeing this commercial a few more times I decided that I needed to have it, so I went onto iTunes and bought it. I couldn’t be more satisfied with this song. I constantly listen to this song on repeat for hours on end. For some reason I never get tired of this song, whether it is the lyrics, just the whole beat of the song, or both. After listening to this song so many times I contacted all of my friends (that hadn’t heard the song) and told them about it. Almost all of them love it and also listen to it on repeat. The great thing about this song that it has substance in the lyrics. This is unlike the songs nowadays which at heart are about how beautiful a girl is and how you want to be with her for one day and then leave her. Kings and Queens is essentially about how the world has ended and there is no god anymore and how now humans on earth have to take over and be the king and queens of the world. I find this subject really interesting because if the world really ended what would happen. This is just one of the possibilities that could happen if the world ended and we were left to deal with what we had left. This is why I like it because just like older songs this one has something to think about with the lyrics. All in all, this is a song everyone should have on their iPods.
The Kill
The Kill
This is the first 30 Seconds to Mars song that I heard ever and it was on Guitar Hero: World Tour™. After accomplishing the song I liked it so much that I bought it on iTunes. Like Kings and Queens, I put this song on repeat until I had learned all of the lyrics and could basically sing the song in my sleep. This song isn’t as intense as Kings and Queens but still pretty awesome. This song has a very head banging chorus and calmer versus’ like most 30 Seconds to Mars songs (which is one of the main reasons that I like them). This song also has a lot of meaning. It is about loyalty and he is asking his girlfriend if he freaked out at her what she would do. Would she freak out at him and tell him that she is done with him and in the end he says that he would want her flip out at him and bury him. Why he is saying this I’m not sure but if that is how he wants to deal with his girlfriend then that is OK. This is also a song that you should put on your iPod but you want just try a song then buy Kings and Queens, although this one is awesome too.
