The advertising for this show made it look very intense and it is. I really enjoy this new show. It always leaves you hanging. There are so many loose ends that you never know what the next week is going to reveal. I guess ABC family is big on reusing things though because this is a series based on the book series by Sara Shepard who consequently wrote Pretty Little Liars, their best reviewed show (ironic? I think not). Also, Ethan the charming bad boy was also in their new series Switched at Birth as the older charming bad boy. Personally I think he is better shown off in The Lying Game, but that is my personal opinion. The show in general is just so eccentric and non realistic that its appealing. Its that weird thing where if a show is just a little bit realistic the rest of it can be complete fantasy but it still feels realistic. This show is using that to it's advantage.

The actual plot of the twins being split and all the drama would never really happen but they put in the drama of teenagers and high schoolers and homeless kids and magically it's realistic. I caught up in this show. I can't wait to watch this show every monday. It actually makes my mondays bareable. During my classes while I am about to fall asleep I think just six more hours till The Lying Game, which is what I am guessing they want to be doing.

Acting wise, it's not too too bad. Alexandra Chando is remarkable as both Emma and Sutton. Blair Redford is charming and steals the hearts of many as Ethan and Allie Gonino also stands out. She plays Laurel and she plays it perfectly. I really enjoy watching her. I don't particularly like Kristen Prout in the role of Char. I think that this show has potential for being very big and popular just like Pretty Little Liars. It's coming along with every episode, and I really love watching this show (I think that I have said that already). Also, like most ABC family show they don't relate to both sexes. This is mainly watched by teenage girls although guys could watch it, that isn't their biggest viewer. They need more variety in their shows because all that they show is mostly for teenage girls and their mothers. They need more shows like Kyle XY again. This is not a criticism on the show though, it's not the show that it doesn't intrigue boys. The show itself is going to be good and it is getting better every episode.

This movie is possibly the most unoriginal movie. When I saw this movie trailer I immediatly though "Hitch" and"Night at the Museum". Then when you get to the actual movie and you see the Happy Gilmore bumper that means that Adam Sandler had some part in the making of the movie. Well I didn't actually think that this was going to be a good movie. . . I will say that it lived up to my expectations. Like all Adam Sandler movies it had crude and physically humor that is at some points unnecessary.

I feel bad for Kevin James some times because he plays the hopeless, awkward fat single guy every single time he is in some rom-com or kids movie. He doesn't play it that well even. He should ultimatly keep playing the guy he was on King of Queens because that was funny.

Not to anyone's surprise Adam Sandler was in the movie and to no surprise he played the monkey who constantly made the potty jokes and cracked all the inuendos in the movie. He was the "comic relief" in a movie that didn't need any comic relief because it was already a comedy. Not only was Adam Sandler act in the movie, he wrote and produced the movie which means that the all the humor was childish and filled with secret jokes for the parents that are bringing their kids to see the movie. Rosario Dawson is such a good actor. I liked her character :Kate because she was normal and didn't do anything insanely stupid, the one funny scene in the movie- when they were on the circus ribbons- was actually comical and I really laughed at it.

One thing I don't like in movies is talking animals, especially when it's not an animated movie. Night at the Museum pulled it off somehow but this movie was just a little weird. There were way to many famous people: Cher, Sylvester Stallone, Adam Sandler, Nick Nolte. It really was unnecessary, I couldn't get over it. Somehow they think that the more names you can put on the billboard the better the movie will be. That is not true however. You can't really make a movie as predictable as this good. The only reason this movie is getting a D instead of an F is because of Rosario Dawson is the saving grace of this movie and I really liked her performance in this movie. Otherwise, this movie was trying to hard to get a laugh, was way to predictable, and was so unoriginal that I could point out places in the movie where the practically the same thing happened in another movie.

This book is a very easy read but it deals with more mature topics. There are mature elements in it, but the writing is aimed at more a 9-14 age range. So just keep that in mind. I read this book in a day and it was not bad. It was interesting and  kept me entertained. It was comical and the writing was very unique. I didn't know that someone could have a Q-tip addiction but apparently you can, to tell the truth I found it a little disturbing. Mikayla was very comical, as she is the narrator, I found myself laughing out loud at many parts. Up until Mikayla starts to train, I liked it. Once she started to train I thought that it resembled the Mortal Instrument series profoundly. This is not particularly bad but I want the upcoming books in the series to be a little more unique in developing this world. Now, in any good YA book you need romance, and there is plenty of that. Lucas is the charming boy in this book. The love story in this book is more mysterious and really comes out at the end and it leaves off for the next book to clear up. I will say that that the whole dream sequences she has when she is in Lucas's head were intriguing and I can't wait to see more of that because I really haven't seen anything like that since Twilight and I think that the way this book is approaching it will be more realistic and interesting. This books has many ups and downs.  It's an easy, entertaining book to read in one day and  leaves you wanting more, but it's not extremly unique, at least not in a way that stands out alot. This is definitly not one of the best books I have read but it is not the worst either.

Dolphin Tale - Harry Connick Jr., Morgan Freeman, Nathan Gamble

Dolphin Tale

Based on the true story about the dolphin Winter who washed up on shore after being caught in a crab fishing box. The cuts and wounds from the accident were so bad that her tail had to be amputated. Dolphin's can't swim without their tale, so she gets a prosthetic one. The movie follows Sawyer, a troubled little boy who is no good in school and doesn't have many friends except his one cousin Kyle, who is going off to the navy. He finds Winter washed up on shore and calls for help. Throughout the movie Sawyer becomes happier and gets friends while we get the true story of Winter and her battle at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. The movie also incorporates the moving moments when people with disabilities get to meet the happy, social Winter and play with her.

This movie is one of those that is just trying to be emotional at every turn. It is striving to make you cry at every point. So, word of advice, if you do go to see this movie, please bring a tissue box. I cried, grudingly I will admit, but I got choked up many times. Winter is played by Winter herself. She is a very cute dolphin and the life of the movie. The story line, although very different from what actually happened does have bits of truth. In reality Winter was only found by the fisherman that is seen in the movie and instead of being found in Clearwater she was found on the opposite coast and was driven to Clearwater Marine Aquarium and treated there. Of course, you need a story line and the story is cliche but it works with the movie and it advertizes what Winter is all about. Kyle (Sawyer's injured cousin) represents every one army survivors and children that have gone and visted Winter. Kevin Carroll is the prosthetic doctor who actually helped because he is a doctor who has made prosthetics for animals before. So the movie took their artistic license with the story line and made something much more emotional than needed I think. On the plus side, it definitly sends a very optimistic message.
Of course, Morgan Freeman just has an outstanding performance. He plays the prosthetic doctor and plays it wonderfully, he is the mentor, of course, in the movie and sends little pieces of advice to whoever will listen. I was also impressed with Nathan Gamble, he played Sawyer's part well. He got the troubled little kid down perfectly and he made me cry a couple times during the movie. Those were the two parts that stuck out the most to me. All in all, it was an ok. It is definitly a family movie and feel happy movie. There isn't anything extremly spectacular in it, except for the truth that Winter is still alive and can swim with a prosthetic tail. I wish that they wouldn't have blown the story up as much as they did because it is a powerful story in the first place, it does not need all the bells and whistles of hollywood's magic writers. Although it was a feel good, "empowering" movie, I was not extremly impressed with the outcome, because I know the whole story of Winter. I would suggest doing some research on Winter, because her story is truly remarkable and Dolphin Tale is certainly not her true story.

I finally read this book. For the past year I have been stuck on cheesy romance novels, eventually that was going to have to change. This book was a little slow in the first chapter. The story is told through multiple perspectives and at multiple dates in time, but the first chapter is an introduction and sets a very simple plot line. The book can get confusing at first but once you're past that first chapter your home free. So here is a tip of advice: Don't stop reading because the first chapter is bad!!
Once the story of the New War starts up and you get into the different perspectives of the different contributers of the war the book picks up the pace. Once you get to this part you see what a phenominal writer Daniel Wilson is. He can write in so many different perspectives. In the book you have chapters narrated by little girls, adult women, old men, even robots. This just shows of how well he can actually write. Once I started the good part of the book I couldn't put it down. This book really pays off in the long run. Not only did I enjoy the writing but it turned a rom-com chick into a sci-fi geek. I couldn't get enough of it. Usually sci-fi is a little to weird and out there for me but not this. Not only does this book have great voice and a believable futuristic setting but it also deals with our current environmental issues, it is mentioned throughout the entire book and it really hits home how badly we take care of our world, and makes you want to do something to change that.
When I finally put this book down after hours and hours of reading I said that I felt like I had just finished reading a really interesting, scary history textbook. The way the story is written and the fact that it incorporates things that we would daily use is what makes this book so real. I seriously was scared of cars for a week and didn't want my brother to play with his mechanical toys because I thought that robots were going to attack us. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, it is truly one of the best books I have read in a while.

London Lane has a special gift and most people would kill to have a "special" gift but not London.  This gift is that every night after she goes to sleep London forgets what has happened the day before and every other day before that.  The upside to her gift is the London can see into the future so she can remember who certain people are that are supposed to be in her future.  To remind herself of homework and what happened the day before London leaves notes for herself every night so in the morning she can read the note and know what happened the day before.  This isn't the ideal life but she gets by pretty well with her best friend and her mom by her side, that was until Luke decided to show up.  Luke, is a gorgeous new guy at their school and apparently her new boyfriend.  She can't remember who he is in the morning even with her notes as a guide and she can't remember any memories with him in the future.  As things get more complicated with Luke and she gets into a huge fight with her only friend London doesn't know who to turn to.  Instead of figuring out what to do London goes on a search for her father who left when she was a little kid and she has no idea where he went.  All during this time London has a disturbing dream of the future and it all takes place at a funeral leading her to want to know who was the one who the funeral was for.  As things unravel and London learns more about her past she realizes that she is hating her "gift" more and more each day.

I was so pumped when I heard that we were getting this book as an ARC.  I had read the synopsis on Goodreads and had never heard of anything like it before.  A girl who knows nothing of her past and can't remember anything from the day before.  This was a plot line that I had never come across before and appreciated that from the first day of reading.  I also really liked the writing style that Cat Patrick brought to the table. The relationship between London and Luke was very believable and not to overdone or cheesy.  Yes, there were some cheesy parts that were hard to get through but for the most part it wasn't that bad and over-the-top like most teen fiction nowadays.
dddd
Now, the actual characters.  London was an OK lead character, but at points could get annoying.  When her and her best friend were fighting she would make a big deal about it, when she knew that they were going to make-up in the end because she could see the future.  Janie a.k.a London's best friend really annoyed me.  She was my least favorite character in the entire book.  In the beginning she was OK and I really liked her as the best friend but once she got in a stupid fight with London I hated her because the fight wasn't about anything important and she really only should have been mad for a day at the most, but she kept hating London for months upon months.  Her character also did nothing for the story and could have been removed all together.  Luke, who was my favorite character in the entire book was very likable.  He seemed sincere in his feelings for London and I really wanted them to end up together and make-up whenever London would yell at him.  Another thing that I didn't like about London (and most YA novels/series nowadays) she would flip out at Luke for no apparent reason.  He would do something that is sort-of bad and she would treat the problem like he had killed someone and disposed of the body on her doorstep.
dddd
The thing that I really loved about this book besides the plot all of the twists that it had.  For the most part the beginning of the book was straight forward but as you get closer to the end Cat Patrick throws all of these surprises that really made this book good. Before these twists were added I was going to give the book a C because nothing that big was happening.  After these variations that were added towards the end made me keep reading and then I really wanted to finish the book and pick-up the next one instantly (which I couldn't sadly).
dddd
Overall, this was an above average book that was a fun read but had some major character flaws.  The plot was original and much appreciated!  If you see it in the book store and have a gift card, I would buy it but nothing to see-out this very second.

One good thing that appealed me to the book is that I didn't despise the female protaganist which is what I usually do. I really liked London. She didn't complain, she was very level headed and didn't act like she was the only person that mattered in the universe. She was greatful for her perfect boyfriend, who in real life would not exist and that pleased me because most times all the girls do is complain about them or swoon constantly over them. London was different.

Luke, was cute but was definitly not my favorite guy character. He was so very stereotypical I could probably find the exact same character with a different name in multiple young adult novels. I get the fact that young adult novels all have the same aspects but to make a really good young adult novel that appeals to teenage girls you have to have a male love interest that has something different about him and makes him appealing and in some loving way not perfect. Luke just didn't make the cut, although he was cute, he was just too cookie cutter.

As for the plot it was confusing as to what London's strange talent was until the third or fourth chapter where you could just infer. All this was annoying but it was for the sake of the book so it was ok. The whole book was told from London's perspective so every chapter was literally a blank page for her. So to get that message across and make the reader infer was a good sacrifice. The actual story as it got farther in was intriguing and made you want to keep reading which is a plus. I literally read this book in one day, I couldn't put it down because I wanted to know what happened. The writing was on the easier side so it was definitly not a dificult read but it was good none the less.

London's special talent will be what makes this book stand out because otherwise it would be just like any other young adult novel. There aren't really any other books that go deep into the psychological side of things and that definitly deserves a place on the young adult section of the bookshelves.Hopefully there will be more books that address the pyschological sides of people because that could be a new hit.

This book was intense from the beginning. There was alot of confusion, mostly because Abithica didn't know where she was or who she was. Everything was hazy until the third or fourth chapter when answers started coming. That was one of my complaints. I can understand the importance of not knowing what or who Abithica is really but sometimes that became a real hassle and it even took away from being able to comprehend the book. Also, there are alternate chapters that really aren't in the view of Abithica and even though they are labled it still added to the confusion of the book.
There were characters that were introduced half way through the book and that added to the confusion too. Alot of the characters didn't have alot of character development. Only the immediate characters were really developed well and when they were it was nice they were so complex and real. I feel like if the characters were developed a little better overall and made the book a little longer then it wold be more satisfying. I know that there are upcoming books in this series hopefully there will be more characterization.
Finally the topics dealt with were old but still nice. Abithica has the ulitimate choice. Should she let herself love or should she live her life the way she always has. It could ultimatly help her find herself or it could destroy her. Then the light touches of the good verses bad helped shadow this book with little bursts of wisdom. I thoroughly enjoyed this book after a while and I couldn't put it down. This is an ultimate goal of a good book but it also showed some good insight into how humans live. It was entertaining on many levels.

Silla has had one of the most traumatic years of her life.  After being the one to find both of her parents dead in the living room, being broken up with by her boyfriend and not being able to focus on the most important thing in her life, the school play.  To top it all off the police have come to the conclusion that her father murdered her mother and then took his own life shortly after, but Silla knows deep down in her heart this is not true and her father was a sweet, innocent man who could hurt no one especially his own wife.
Nick absolutely hates everything about his life and wishes that it would just go away for a while.  His mother is out of the picture and his father has found a new wife and not one that Nick is fond of.  His father and new stepmother also decide that it is time to move and so Nick packs up, leaves every single one of his friends that it took him so long to make and leaves.
Nick is positive that this is going to be the worst year of his entire life...that is until a trip to the local cemetery finds him talking to Silla and falling in love from the minute he sees her.  Not to mention the fact that right before he walked over she had been slitting her wrists over a dead leaf.  The minute Silla leaves Nick tries to find out everything about her from his only friend in the school and goes on a quest.
That night in the cemetery Silla wasn't slitting her wrists because she was depressed and done with life it is because she was performing magic, and the main ingredient in a spell is blood so, the most logical place in her head is to take it from her wrists, and she wasn't exactly planning on having company in the first place.
As Nick and Silla grow closer to one another they find out that they have more in common than they thought and someone is trying to steal the spell book that they hold so close to them and will literally kill anyone who gets in their way of obtaining the book.

What We Think

We first got this book as an ARC and it was my turn to get the next ARC and I couldn't have been more excited.  I had seen the book cover and short synopsis on Goodreads previously and loved everything about it.  From page one I knew that I was going to really like this book.  I really enjoyed the plot line of the book because it was something different.  Nowadays, the common thing to write about is vampires, werewolves and fallen angels and pure magic has been kind of pushed to the side.  This was also a different type of magic because to perform any spell you had to sacrifice some of your own blood.  I had never heard of this concept and found it really intriguing and it made me want to turn the page at the end of every sentence.  This concept also kept me up in the middle of the night trying to finish one more chapter because I was so desperate to know what was going to happen to the characters.
That brings me to the next topic of characters.  The interesting thing about this book was the fact that it would switch off between three speakers, Silla, Nick and mysterious letters.  Silla was a strong main girl character who I could relate to.  The things that she had to go through in the book I couldn't even imagine holding up as well as she did and I can only imagine crawling up into a little ball and never coming out of my room if I lost my boyfriend and my parents all within the same week.  In that way she was a strong character and clearly new her limits and when enough was enough.  The one thing that did bother me about Silla was that at points she got annoying.  She would complain a little too much about not being able to see Nick because he would turn away to walk home and she would instantly miss him and want him to come back when she was going to see him in a hour or two.  This seemed a little needy but other than that she was a strong character.  Now onto Nick who I liked better than Silla.  Nick was sarcastic  funny and all around a great character.  I couldn't find one thing that I didn't like about him and I was always excited when I saw that a passage of his was coming up.  It seemed like it truly loved Silla and at points she seemed to not trust that they were actually in love but he never doubted his feelings for her and was always there for her if she needed him to be.  Now as a couple the two of them got on my nerves.  They had their moments of "aw" that I thought were cute but most of the time they were just making-out.  I get it if you want to kiss the person, but why does it have to be ALL the time.  When they weren't together they would think about kissing and Silla would only dream of kissing him.  She didn't dream of him as a person all she dreamed of was kissing his soft lips and the second he would leave she would wish they could have kissed once more.  This was also a problem that Nick faced.  When he was alone in his house he would wish Silla was there so he could kiss her and he couldn't wait until he saw her again so that he could kiss her.  Maybe, some people like all the kissing and excessive talk of kissing but I thought it was awkward and only made them weaker characters.
The last thing I am going to talk about is the cover of the book.  The cover of this book is brillant and whoever designed it I applaud you! It is eye-catching and if I saw it on the shelves in stores I would buy it in an instant and I never get tired of it.  After, reading the book I really appreciated the cover and all of the hidden things that it holds that you don't realize until you read the book.
In the end this was a great read and had fun twists that you don't think will happen and when they do you are completely shock.  This is something I now appreciate about Tessa Gratton as an author and after reading this book I am super excited to read the sequel The Blood Keeper when it comes out! Recommend this book to any YA lover.

This book was interesting. It was a little slow and confusing in the beginning but altogether a very well put together book.  It was very prominently and Young Adult novel. It has all the elements of it, the dark gothic feel, the attractive guy, the troubled girl. What else could you ask for?  There was a couple of things that bothered me though.
One: as North said they talked WAY to much about kissing... yes Nick is cute and all but please spare me the  gory details of a teenage girls fantasies. It was seriously all they thought about after that first kiss and then its all they did afterwards. I don't think that there was one scene where they didn't end up kissing. Now for a Young Adult novel you can usually get away with that but for some reason it just stuck out like a sore thumb in this book. Nick and Silla just didn't seem the type to makeout all the time.
Two: Nick was way to brooding for my liking. Yes, Edward Cullen is the biggest brooder of all time but when you are somewhat in between not brooding and brooding it just doesn't work. Sometimes I felt like his brooding didn't fit and that he was not realistic at all. He was way to oblivious to his new stepmother and lashed out at her at points that didn't make sense at all and that confused me.
That was what I disliked most about the book. Something that really caught me in this book was the use of symbols. Especially ones that were common in gothic literature in the 1800's. I thought it made the book unique. The crows were very powerful, the cemetery, the old victorian house, the blood and gore. All of it made it seem dark and gothic which is more than some of the "gothic" books you read today give you.
Finally, the old story in the book was fascinating. Most times I don't look forward to reading the older sections of books when they have them, the flashbacks can be tedious to read but the narrator was just so wonderfully evil that it made it fun to read. All the wrongdoings and imperfections in the story was captivating to me and I enjoyed it thoroughly. All the characters were developed wonderfully and everything seemed well done in this book. It was a good read.

I would just like to put a thanks out to Dream because she bought me this book and without her I most likely would not be reviewing this book right now. Anyways, this book had a tough reputation to hold up. The Mortal Instruments series was an Internationally Bestselling book and so this was either a hit or a miss. I thought that it was a hit. I kept trying to relate the characters back to the original ones like Clary and Jace. There was of course similarities but those were subtle. Will obviously Jace but it took another route with the character. The plot was unique and learning about the history of the shadowhunters and seeing where everything comes together was cool. Of course there will be more but you can pick things out already like the Pandemonium Club, which is at the setting of the first scene in the first book. Then there are characters that come back like Magnus. I loved how everything ties into eachother. The actual characters were awesome. I love James (a.k.a Jem) he is the sensitive kid that you have to love. I also liked Will, if you like Jace you will like Will, he just will make you angrier. This book made me really emotional, I was frequently caught throwing the book on the floor or yelling at the characters in the book. I am not crazy though. That's how well the book was written. The last chapter just leaves you angry and happy and wanting more which is horrible becuase then you have to wait for the next book to come out. It's torture! If you havent read this book then you should, especially if you read the Mortal Instruments series. Loved this book and I know that you will too.

I LOVED this book. Everything about it was good, the characters were well developed and so was the plot. The concept behind the plot, like the modern greek tragedy is really creative. It was flirty and fun and dark, I couldn't put it down, literally. Shore and Living and North yelled at me multiple times to put the book down and concentrate on more important things.

The only problem I have with this book was that there was too many similarities from other books. Most recognizably Twilight and City of Bones.

First off there is three high school age guys that live together in a big fancy house in a small town, also they are drop dead gorgeous and incredibly talented a "freak". Now who does that sound like? Edward, Emmett and Jasper? Yes you want to know who else it sounds like? Lucas Hector and Jason Delos. I am not kidding, the whole book was exactly like Twilight. I am not saying that I didn't like it I just wish there wasn't as big as it was.

What I liked most was the girl. I usually don't like leading girls in books they are whiny and annoying but she was alot better then any of the others. She was not like Bella Swan. Thank god. She was very feminine, she never knew that she was pretty she never had that realization but she grew more confident becasue she became more powerful with her newfound talents, that was awesome. There were alot of strong girl characters in this book. Yay for feminism!

The beginning was slow but that was ok because it picks up right away so it is allowed that extra pick up time. In my opinion this book was ten thousand times better than Twilight. First off there was no creepy stalking obsessive vampires, and no perfectly horrible love triangle. Take that out and add fate and the darkness of a Greek tragedy and its this book, it was scary and suspenseful and bittersweet. It's like taking Romeo and Juliet and the Odyssey and make it modern and dark and awesome and you get this book.

This book is part of the three part Awakening series, I would highly recommend that you read this book as soon as it comes out because I have a feeling that it will become big and famous, it's just that good.

This was orignally a musical by the ingenious Bob Fosse. This show is set in the 1920's and is based around a vaudeville performer named Velma Kelly and a chorus girl named Roxie Hart. They both end up in murderess row for killing people. Velma kills her sister and husband and Roxie kills her unfaithful lover. They have to fight for fame and win over the court so they can escape the galleys. This movie has a killer cast that is loaded with talent. Starring the actresses Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger, and Queen Latifah.

Overture/And All That Jazz- 10/10- The overture is very unique, ironically there is no songs in the overture that are actually in the show excet for the hot honey rag, the song playingis a song that Bob Fosse wrote for the show but was cut before the show went up. All That Jazz is a classic in any musical theater book. This song was done very well. Catherine Zeta-Jones has a a great voice for Velma and the whole song is very catchy. The ensemble part is also done very well. Everything about the song is sultry and starts the whole show off to a very good start.

Funny Honey-7/10- This song is really funny. I love the jazz feel that is combines ragtime. The lyrics are really funny, she really doesn't like her husband and his part in the song is really funny. John C. Reilly is an amazing actor and who knew he could sing? The play-off during this song is really witty, the ending is very nice and both parts were played well, it's just a little weak and it gets boring sometimes.

When You're Good to Mama-8/10- The band in this song is awesome. The whole instrument part is very interesting to listen to. Queen Latifah has got a huge voice and this is the perfect role for her. The lyrics are really witty during this song, I think that the lyrics are what bring this song together because otherwise it would be boring. Queen Latifah does a lot with this song and makes it very memorable.

Cell Block Tango-11/10- I don't think that I can say enough about this song. It makes me really happy to listen to. This song is just a perfect example of the saying "hell hath no fury like a woman's rage". Not only that but the dancing makes it the most amazing song ever. The monologues are the best though. They are hilarious, and although this song is the extremity of this rage all women have at one point felt this rage. Catherine Zeta-Jones has the best for this song, you can almost feel the anger in her voice. What I like most about this song is the dance and the end, I like when they pull the red scarfs out to symoblize that they killed the men, it is a really creative song, and I think the best in the show.

All I Care About-8/10- The beginning of the song is a little strange, I like all of Billy's songs they really make me think of the twenties. They are upbeat fun songs that get songs stuck in your head. This song is extremly ironic because all Billy Flynn cares about is money so it makes the song really funny. Richard Gere played this part very well. When he starts stripping during the movie, I think that I almost died. The song was overdone but in a good way it brought out the satire in the song and really captured the show.

We Both Reached For the Gun-9/10- This song is really funny, especially when you watch the performance. It's a very unique song. The music part of this song is very interesting, the lyrics are at points really interesting, but this song is only good when in performance or if you have seen the performance in the movie, because otherwise the only impressive thing is the speed and Richard Gere's high note at the end.

Roxie-8/10- This song is nice. It's strange, but also really funny. There isn't a lot of difficulty in the notes but to perform it correctly is the key. Renee Zellweger did amazing, from her voice to her the way she moves really captures the song and the essence of Roxie, it makes the song really good.

I Can't Do It Alone-7/10- This is another song that is better while watching the performance, because it is all based on the dancing. The music is fun and upbeat and the singing is really good but other than that the song isn't any good without the dancing.

Mister Cellophane- 9/10- So who knew that John C. Reilly could sing? I didn't, but he has a very, very good voice. He is the perfect Amos. This is a very famous song and he did it justice, he sang it perfectly. I love this song. It gets stuck in your head though. His performance of this song is really good too. Just the way he did and said everything made this song convincing and perfect.

Razzle Dazzle-6/10- So I have to admit, I don't like this song. This is a very popular song and it's a classic but for some odd reason it doesn't catch me. I also have to admit, I did like it in the movie because it made the song make sense, but just listening to this song plain puts me to sleep. Richard Gere also did this song very well so it made the song a lot better in my mind. The song is really repetitive and not big and flashy like some of the other songs, which is really ironic because the name implies that it might have a little more razzle dazzle but it's just not that exciting.

Class-8/10- This song is not in the movie but on the cd. This song is really funny, the lyrics witty and the music dramatic considered what they are saying. It makes you laugh but it deals with a lot weird topics that aren't usually talked about it. The funny thing is that it's totally true.

Nowadays (Roxie)-7/10- I like Roxie's version of this song, it's short but I like the music and the way she sings it. At the end it goes into her audition so that's why it sounds different but I like the whole song in general. It makes the whole show make sense.

Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag-8/10- You need to see the performance to like this song, but just from listening to it you can still get a feel for it. The singing is really good, and I love the song in general and the instrumental part is really fun, I love listening to the band play it makes you want to live in the twenties, but you can't fully appreciate this song on a cd.

I Move On- 8/10- This song is not in the show but it's in the movie and it has the theme from hot honey rag in it. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger sound really nice together. They make a really good team. This song is on the cd because it was written for the two actors and isn't actually in the movie but it is a good song in general it's like the show.

After Midnight-9/10- This song is very sultry and I love this style of music, the soft jazz that gives you goosebumps. Even though it is all instrumental and was probably used as background music it's still good music. The noises some of the instruments make is really cool and it makes me happy to listen to this music. It was written very well, it is just like the show and it has awesome harmonies.

Roxie's Suite- 9/10- This is a song of just instrumentation. It was used as background music and was written by Danny Elfman. Both of his pieces are really nice beacuse they are modern but old fashioned at the same time. They are both really nice and sultry jazz. There isn't much you can say about these songs other than that they are really good.

Cell Block Tango-0/10-This song is a rendition of the song from the show with Queen Latifah and Lil' Kim and Macy Gray. This is a horrible song!!! The song was good as it was and it shouldn't have been changed. This a disgrace to Bob Fosse to change this song as much as they did and then call it the same song. I can't stand this song. I don't know how you can go from jazz and standard music to rap and hip hop but it doesn't work so don't try it. Don't listen to this song if you like the original it will only give you a rage for the song just like the women in the original song have rage for the men in their lives.

Love is a Crime-5/10- This was a song that was written for the soundtrack and it is sung by Anastacia. This song is not like the show at all but it's a good song in general but it doesn't go along with the show at all so it doesn't really fit in with the show.

Love Song- 10/10- This song has been popular for awhile.  It came out on itunes in 2007 and only months later it was Billboards top hits as #100. In the following years it jumped up to #4 on the hit list and stayed there for a couple of weeks. The song in general is one of my favorites, I like her voice, the piano part and the lyrics. Her voice is different in a good way, it stands out from other people. She has a folky kind of voice but it can also sound like pop and at points even rock. She is an excellent musician and the piano part is just evidence of that. All of the musical arrangement is really clever and well thought out. The change from just a piano part to the guitars and drums and stuff is really cool and makes the song more upbeat but if you play this song  acoustically it still sounds really good. The lyrics seem really deep and meaningful to her but they are fun and recognizable which is really important. All over this song is just impressive and noticeable.

Vegas-8/10- This song is more jazzy and it’s alot different than Love Song so it’s not what we think about when we think of her. There is a noticeable piano part, it’s also very good musicianship because the balance between the piano and the drums and guitar it adds to the feeling of jazz and rock. This is a very unique song and I didn’t like at first but after to listening to it for a while it grew on me, the lyrics are really nice too.

Bottle It Up- 9/10- This song is nice. I like the lyrics and the lack of a prominent piano part is a different take on her music. I think that the song is just as good as the others so it shows that she can do both kinds of music and its still the same quality. Sometimes artists get attached with one instruments and can’t sound good with anything else. This is not the case here, her music is just as good without a piano than with it. The arrangement is still good and the song is enjoyable.

One Sweet Love- 10/10- I like the acoustic guitar paired with the piano, it gives the song a very folky rock kind of feel. My favorite part of the entire song is the lyrics. She is a poet. Lyrics are poetry, and she is a very good writer. Her songs might not make total sense, but poetry doesn’t have to make sense it just has to make you go “ahh”. The lyrics in this song make me do that. This song made me go back and listen to the rest of the songs and they all have lyrics that are really nice and the poetry is good. This song is also has really awesome harmonies scattered everywhere and its not to much but it has an really interesting effect on the song.

Come Round Soon-10/10- This song is a lot different than all the rest of her songs. I love this song, the first line catches you off guard “I could use another cigarette” is a little strange. Again this song shows off her writing skills. Her voice is also shown off really well, when she goes up to that high note its surprising because you don’t think that she could hit and she does. The orchestra part that she adds is a nice touch to the song, this song is put together well and the song is extremly impressive in every aspect.

Morningside- 10/10- This song is resemblant of the last song because of the more rock feel. The drum part in this song is really cool I hear bongos and a regular drum set and that’s accompanied by the piano which has a sweet part too. Not only that but there is some funk in the guitar like a seventies kind of sound and then the back up voices it makes the song have so many layers. It’s a very impressive arrangement. The lyrics are still amazing so nothing changes, the whole thing is really good and just how she delivers the song is emotional so it’s interesting to listen to her sing this song.

Between the Lines – 10/10- One thing to say: SWEET PIANO PART!!!! Actually there is more than one thing to say. . . the singing is amazing too. The three big parts of this song are 1) the piano part, which is very good, as I said before: sweet piano part. 2) the singing, nailed it, the emotion is evident and there is a nice tone and cool tone the whole time, pleasing to listen to. and 3) the lyrics, these are my second favorite lyrics on the cd. They are emotional and lyrical and go with everything else so perfectly, the song is really good.

Love on the Rocks-7/10- This song is the definition of funk, the drums, the piano and the guitar it’s awesome, it’s cool and funky. The lyrics again are nice and so is the harmonies, it’s altogether nice. The only thing that’s different about this song and the others is the funk that is in this song. Otherwise it’s pretty much the same deal as the other songs. I still like this song though, it’s just repetitive and I feel like I have been listening to the same things, but that isn’t a bad thing.

City- 8/10-So apparently this song has become a little more popular. I like this song, it’s got another great piano part and her voice sounds really nice on the song and it does stand out from the rest of the songs, the slowness and the soft rock kind of feel it’s nice. I like the lyrics because I think a lot of people can relate to them. There really is nothing else to say, except this is a good song.

Many the Miles-10/10- This song sounds more like an Uncle Kraker song because it has the funk and country feel. I like the lyrics of this song they are meaningful, I guess. The piano part in this song sound more like southern jazz. The whole song is a little country, but that’s ok because this is a good cong. I like the a capella part with all the harmonies. This song shows off all of her talents, it’s really impressive.

Fairytale- 10/10-This song is fun and cynical all at the same time. The lyrics are the best part aside from the harmonies and singing. The lyrics are hilarious and they make a point. The harmonies that she incorporates into the song are really nice. I like the whole song it’s just really good in every aspect, nothing else to say about this song.

Gravity-11/10- They did a dance to this song on So You Think You Can Dance and this song had so much more meaning to me after that. The dance was about addiction, which the song sounds like its about. The lyrics are my favorite in the whole cd and they are some of my favorite lyrics period. This song is really touching with the strings and the piano and her voice. When they all come together and combine with the lyrics the song is really emotional and touching.

Thoroughly Modren Millie- Original Broadway Cast

Posted on 20:11 by Unknown
This show is my dream show, if I could be in any show in the entire world (excluding Les Mis, because that show does not compare to any other show) I would want to be in this show, as Millie. The music is funny, and smart and pleasing. The show in general is quirky, the whole plot is funny and just goofy. The time period makes it even better. It’s based in 1922, in New York City. This is the time of a social renaissance. The flappers have gained power and have found their inner temptress. This show is all based around the conformity of the time and how it shaped people but in a funny upbeat way. It also centers around a sketchy apartment owner who is selling the girls that she houses into white slavery with the help of her asian minions. It’s a very strange show but the music is funny and really fun, so I hope you like it.

Song Time: 55 Minutes and 19 Seconds
Overture-8/10- This is an overture, there is nothing really to say about it. The arrangement is nice and as far as overtures go this is a really good one. The only problem is that it seems very long and all overtures do but that’s the only thing that bugs me. On the other hand it captures most of the big songs and also show off the seriousness and goofy and funny side of the show so it is a very good prelude the show, it did not disappoint me.

Not For The Life Of Me- 10/10- I LOVE this song…  actually, I love singing this song. My favorite part is when she rips the ticket after the slow part ends and the song starts up. It makes me laugh everytime. I like how the song shows the change in Millie perfectly, you see the very innocent side that goes out the window and she is no longer a country bumpkin and has changed into a city girl. The lyrics are seriously hilarious when listening to them I alway have to laugh. It’s definitly a good song by itself and in the context of the show.

Thoroughly Modern Millie- 9/10- I did a dance to this song in camp one year and I fell in love. It was so much to dance to. The song is upbeat and sultry and everything that is thought about the twenties and broadway. The orchestra part in the middle isn’t even boring because it is fun and upbeat. The middle of the song when it gets all jazzy and cool is so awesome because of the harmonies and gives you goosebumps (or it does to me). Very good song, especially because it is the title song of the show.

Not For the Life of Me (reprise)- 6/10- Ok as far as reprises go this one is good. The song just happened and so it fits, but it’s short and a little comical at the end but its just there, there is nothing special about it.

How the Other Half Lives- 7/10- This song is funny, Dorothy’s part is cute and the duet part is really pretty, I feel that it could be faster. The song is a little slower. The only thing that saves this song from being bad is the lyrics. They are goofy but it really sounds like the other songs, so it’s a little plain.

The Speed Test- 8/10- This song is really original, it’s really funny because Millie is in love with this guy and the manager has to be really talented. I haven’t heard song like this before and this song makes me laugh because it is funny just like the rest of the show. The speed that this song gets to is incredible and the tap part in the middle that makes the noises for her typewriter is so awesome, I think that this song would be better to watch than listen to though.

Not For the Life of Me- 4/10- I know if you are listening to this song for the first time and not seeing it on stage it’s a little strange. Yes they are speaking in another language but in the show you know what they are saying, and the words are really funny. On the cd it’s a little pointless but it is at parts funny, not really worth listening to.

They Don’t Know- 7/10- Singing is the sketchy apartment owner I was talking about, she is really creepy and when I saw this there was a tall man playing this, and he was dressed as a women. This song isn’t really that great. I think that it is ok but I wouldn’t listen to this just because. I would most likely skip this on my MP3, the lyrics are goofy but it isn’t really that great it’s creepy and scary. Musically this song is good though.

Nutty Cracker Suite – 8/10- This song is a remake of the Nutcrakcer Suite from The Nutcracker Ballet. This song is fully orchestration but it’s fun to listen to. It’s a full dance scene in a speakeasy, but it’s funny to watch so you don’t get the full effect of the song from just the song but in general the song is really jazzy and the orchestration is really good, I love listening to it, I get goosebumps at points and the sultry jazz is really good.

What Do I Need With Love-9/10-This song is interesting, it’s the first time we hear Jimmy sing and it really characterizes him, just like Millie’s first song does. I like this song, Jimmy is a really good character and if it’s played this song can be amazing. It goes through so many different tempo changes I think that it would be a pretty difficult song to sing. It’s original and it’s fun to listen to because it is really funny, he is the ultimate definition of a player, I like this song and it’s good in the show and by itself.

Only in New York- 7/10-This is the first time that we meet Muzzy, her songs are cool and jazzy, this one imparticular. I forgot about this song, this is a good song though. It sounds like a song that would be sung in the times and that is what its supposed to be. So, it sounds good in and out of context of the show. It’s not my favorite but I like it.

Jimmy- 10/10- This song is more serious than the others but it is still goofy. I like this song, the beginning of it is the best part, there is really good musical writing, the whole song is really good. I think that this is one of the best songs in the show. It’s classic musical writing so it’s good but I love listening to it.

Back at Work- 3/10- This song is pointless, there is no reason to have it on the cd it’s just a prelude to the next song. It’s stupid, why not just put it into the other song? I really just don’t understand the point of this song.

Forget About the Boy-10/10- I love this song, just like the rest of these songs. This song is goofy and the tap part is really cool. It is kind of the definition of what you do when your angry on broadway: we dance! Yeah it’s pretty funny and not only is the song funny but the musicality of is really nice, the backup ensemble that becomes a emsemble song and the harmonies are all very nice and pulls the song together into a nice ten out of ten.

Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life/I’m Falling in Love With Someone- 7/10- This song is really weird, the characters are weird so this song is just bizarre and it’s like this song is picking fun at classic broadway love songs. I wouldn’t listen to this just because I want to, it’s definitly not my favorite but it is a good song, I guess. It’s different from all the other songs though so it does stand out.

I Turned the Corner/ I’m Falling in Love With Someone- 9/10- This song is cute, in the show they are sitting on a window sill of her workplace. They are looking down at the city. They start dancing on it too, it’s just a touching song and scene alot better than the last song and when the two couples come in and sing together its just amazing because of the orchestration, I love listening to this song.

Muqin- 8/10- This song is funny and strange. The musical part is really good and the lyrics made the song funny. This song is fun to listen to but you can’t understand part of it. That’s always a problem but the upbeat feeling is always nice and the song is funny, there really isn’t anything else about this song.

Long as I’m Here With You- 9/10- The guy part at the beginning is really nice, I love listening to guys sing there’s something that I like about the sound of there voices. This song itself is really good. I like the song in general because it’s jazzy and basic twenties so it’s fun. The musicality of the song, like the rest of them, is really nice and the orchestration is really awesome, especially the trumpets.

Gimme Gimme- 11/10- This song is my favorite song in this show. Listening to Sutton Foster sing is it is amazing in itself because she is amazing, but the song is really good. It is one of the best songs from a musical that I know. The tempo changes and the lyrics all contribute to the song and make it amazing. It really helps show Millie’s change of mind and her goofiness as a character is amazing. The end of this song is a showstopper, it gives me goosebumps, if you haven’t listened to this song then you should listen to it NOW!!!!

Finale- 8/10- This isn’t a great way to end the show. The ensemble parts are really nice and tie up the show. Jimmy’s part is adorable and makes me so happy, there isn’t really anything else to say, it’s just a nice way to end the show.

Run Time: 125 minutes
Rating: PG-13
I watched this movie last night for the first time. I have a sister who, whenever I would suggest this movie would say, no we’ll watch it some other time. I had waited long enough. So, I got a big bowl of Doritos (my favorite chips, if anyone cares) and big glass of sprite (there was no Diet coke) and I sat in my room and anxiously waited for the movie to start. This movie was hilarious, Lisa Kudrow from Friends is in it and is a really good co-star, she makes the movie hilarious, along with Hilary Swank who plays the quirky, lovable Holly. Gerard Butler plays the loving Gerry who is amazing, he is funny, and cute and you love him from the start. I really loved this whole movie. Everything about it was good, the script was funny and dramatic, everything was in it’s proper place. The cast was a killer one, it was jammed pack full with famous people. I mean, Harry Connick Jr. is in there and everyone knows him. He played Daniel who had a condition that he just said everything he thought, and it was really cute. He actually had some good insight and was a strong character. What I liked most about the movie was that it was a surprise ending, in most romantic comedies the girl ends up with the usual suspect but the usual suspect wasn’t who she ended up with, acutally they had you thinking that it was going to end that way and when they kissed they both didn’t like it. It was quite refreshing to see that she wasn’t going to end up with Daniel, because they were better friends than they were a couple and itwas just a totally different ending than any other romantic comedies that I have seen.
Also, the plot line is just really well done, it is based off of the book by Cecelia Ahern, so props to her for making a really good plot line. Everything from when she lost herslef until she got the first letter was really fast paced and just kept chugging and when the plot seemed like it wasn’t going anywhere they had a funny scene or a plot mover, so I never felt bored or tired with what was going on. The two girlfriends were really well played, they played the two best friends perfectly. I mean, you see those two characters everywhere but they made it work in this movie. There was chemistry between the three girls and it was really refreshing to see. I was ready to watch a cheesy romantic comedy but instead I found a very well acted movie that was worth watching but still made me feel happy and sad, it is everything a romantic comedy should be and it is one of the best romantic comedies I have ever seen. It is a must see, especially if you haven’t seen it.
Real Teen Rating~ A+ : If you haven’t seen this movie you are a deprived soul!!!
