The Gist
Forrest Gump has had a really hard life. He suffers from some sort of mental retardation and when he was a boy had to get braces for his legs because his back was all screwed up. On the first day of school he gets on the bus and everyone tells him that the seat is taken and he has no where to sit. That is until a little girl offers him a seat next to her. Her name is Jenny and she becomes his best and only friend. They spend every living moment together and can’t think of a day when they weren’t together. Since Forrest has a problem everyone makes fun of him and how he can’t walk. One day a miracle happens and he is able to walk normally like everyone else. Years pass by and Forrest has made no other friends other than Jenny but he is OK with that. As they grow older Jenny goes to college and Forrest visits her almost everyday, until one day she tells him to go away and never visit her again. When she says this Forrest enrolls in the army and even though he knows she said stay away he sends her letters everyday. He soon learns that life isn’t as easy as everyone says it is.

I loved this movie. I watched it on Netflix with my sister and her friend and by the end of the movie we were all bawling are eyes out. Please ignore my not very good gist and watch this movie because it is AMAZING. If you are reading this you have probably heard the line, “Run Forrest Run” at some point in your lifetime and that is from this movie. They say that line a lot in the movie but personally I don’t know why it is so famous. All of that aside this was a fantastically made movie. This thing that I really liked about it was that it moved extremely fast. In no time at all the movie was over and I didn’t even realize that it had been 2hours and 20min. I love when movies move really fast because then you know that you were interested in the story the whole time and that means it was very well done. For me Forrest Gump fell right in that category. The other thing that I loved about this movie was the character of Forrest Gump. Throughout the whole movie his motivation was to get Jenny to love him even when she would push him away , and every time he would try even harder. Along the way all these amazing things would happen to him like starting a ping-pong craze, creating songs, bumper stickers, and shirts. He also met the president a couple of times and got medals for incredible things but to him none of this mattered and all that mattered was getting Jenny’s heart. I think that is so cute that he would go to such lengths to get his “true love”. In the movie he says, “I’m not a smart man… but I know what love is,” and I think he is probably one of the only people in the world who actually understands love and will stop at nothing to find it. I recommend this to anyone looking for a good movie to watch (as long as you don’t mind crying your eyes out). This is a classic and will stay that way forever!!!!!
