Now I know that a lot of people are thinking the same thing as me. WHY IS EVERY MOVIE NOW IN 3-D. The past couple of times when I have gone to the movies and sat through the commercials every single one has been in “eye-popping 3-D”, “stunning 3-D” or “extremely amazing 3-D”. It seems that nowadays a good story is not important, as long as you have amazing effects then people will come and see your movie. I hate to break it to you movie producers/directors but a lot of people in this world still deeply care about a good story and could care less about the effects. Sure who doesn’t love great special effects but if there is no good story then there isn’t really a point in making the movie (well maybe sometimes there is, but most times not). An example of this would be both Shrek 4 and How to Train Your Dragon. Both of these movies were offered in 3-D but I just ended up seeing them in 2-D but they were just as good in 2-D according to my friend who had seen them in both. After watching both of these movie I didn’t really see why either of them really needed 3-D in the first place. In my opinion 3-D should only be used when it is going to enhance the story. The new movie coming out Avatar: The Last Airbender is a movie that would be great in 3-D, because they are water bending and doing a bunch of things that would be really cool in 3-D. Movies like Despicable Me (which I can’t WAIT to see) just don’t need to be in 3-D because you end up spending more on the ticket because it is in 3-D where you don’t really need to see it like that and I am sure it would be perfectly fine in 2-D. All in all, not every single movie needs to be in 3-D and most of them would be better off staying in 2-D
