Kurt Hugo Schneider

I’m sure we’ve all heard of YouTube.  If you haven’t, well, climb out from under the rock you’ve been living in for the past ten years and look it up.  It’s one of the coolest websites out there, and is great when you want to hear a song, see something totally goofy, look up movie trailers, or even make yourself known.  People have been discovered and become famous through YouTube (think Justin Bieber), and there are a lot of YouTube sensations.  These sensations go absolutely viral, and can get thousands of views in the first day they post a new video.  One of these amazing YouTube artists is music producer/filmmaker/singer Kurt Hugo Schneider.
Unlike a lot of YouTubers, Kurt isn’t the major performer in most of his videos.  He does some background vocals and percussion in a few videos, and has a few videos of him singing or playing piano (which are completely stunning – especially I’ll Follow You Into the Dark), but mostly he creates videos for others.  Like his latest video, for example.  Working with Alex Goot, an up-and-coming YouTube artist, he created a music video for Alex’s new song Pretty Eyes.  The video posted on January 22 and already has 1,174,843 views (last time I checked).  Obviously, Kurt has a huge following!  And he has an eye for talent.  His main singer (for lack of a better term) is named Sam Tsui.  He is amazing.  There really isn’t another word for it. He’s also really cute, although that’s a whole different story.   He does a lot of mash-up stuff with Kurt, and they remix lots of popular songs.  They also came out with an original song called I Don’t Want An Ending.  I just listened to it for the first a minute ago for this review, and it made me very glad I decided to do this review.  The song was good, the vocals were great, and the video was cool.  Great job there!  Kurt’s other performers, like Alex Goot or Christina Grimime, are just as good as Sam.  Every new video he makes gets me to smile just a little bit more.
Kurt is completely astounding.  From throwing a beat, to playing piano or guitar, to singing, to editing and producing, there doesn’t seem to be anything he can’t do.  Plus he’s adorably cute!  But the best thing about him?  Watching his videos, especially the ones he’s in, you can tell he loves what he does.  He has fun with it, no matter what, and it shows.  It’s inspiring to see someone being able to work with their passions.  Plus, the videos rock!
