The Gist
The world has ended and all form of life has vanished. Or…maybe not. In a final attempt to make it so life will continue even after humans are dead, a scientist creates nine doll-like creatures that act, talk, and feel like humans do. In the war Humans verses the Machine, humans lost, and the Machine destroyed everything that moved, breathed, or lived. Now the nine tiny creatures must figure a way to stop the Machine before it manages to kill of all nine of them. And they must think of a way to make life continue, even after all nine of them are gone.

What We Think

This was a really good movie in my opinion. It was all animated, but it still managed to seem real and horribly futuristic. One of the directors was Tim Burton, so obviously it was going to be at least a little creepy. Personally, I thought that a killer machine that had turned on human is scary. Not gives-me-nightmares scary, but makes-me-think scary. I had to stop and after watching the movie; is that what the world is going to be like? I really hope not. I loved the tiny little doll-ish people. They all had different personalities, just like people do. 1 was like a bitter old holy man (well, at least that’s what it seemed like to me) who made the rules and stuck firmly to them. 2 was smart and courageous, and would do anything for a friend. 3 and 4 were mute twins who’s only purpose was to figure out information about the past. 5 was a half-blind true friend who would stop at nothing to help someone in need. 6 was some kind of half-crazy psychic or something. 7 was the only girl, but she was as brave and caring as all of them put together. 8 was the thug who would beat up anyone who didn’t listen to 1. And 9 was the final one who ended up saving all of them. I really liked how these tiny people were so much like humans are now. It kind of gave the message that there is always hope, no matter what. It was a thought-provoking movie, and I would definitely recommend it.
